Transitional Support

Moving to a new State provides opportunities and challenges - our Safe Haven Hub staff can assist in this transition by providing support, referrals and local orientation to assist you to establish yourself and your family in Tasmania.

Education, training and pre-employment support

At the Safe Haven Hub we work with you to identify your goals, with a particular focus on study and employment. Services we provide include:

  • employment pathway planning

  • resume writing

  • job searching and applications

  • interview preparation

  • pre-employment support to prepare you for employment

  • post-employment support to ensure positive employment outcomes

Making the most of the SHEV option means finding and securing employment - to get you to the work you want our staff and partners can assist with the services above.

The Safe Haven Hub can put you in touch with services to explore the option of having your qualifications recognised in Australia.


At the Safe Haven Hub we work with employers to find the best opportunities to for Hub participants to secure work.

As well as providing training and job seeking support we link participants to jobactive provider.

Potential employment options in Tasmania (North and South)

  • potential employment in the Agriculture industry doing picking, harvesting, machinery operation and general farm hand roles

  • potential employment opportunities in the hospitality industry including kitchen hand, waiting and housekeeping work

  • potential aged care work in a variety of roles – caring, community work, office work and hotel services jobs

  • potential employment in the disability sector in a range of roles – physical assistance, social engagement and community support

  • fishing industry employment opportunities including factory work, processing and on board employment

  • Safe Haven Hub is developing working partnerships with all of these industry service providers to ensure smooth integration of clients into these workplaces

  • Safe Haven Hub is also developing linkages with Skills Funding organisations to provide varied opportunities for clients to gain specific industry skills

  • arranging and supporting clients in work experience in a variety of industries


As well as supporting participants the Safe Haven Hub works with education providers and employers to find the best ways of attracting and retaining people. This involves pre- and post- employment support for Hub participants, cultural support to employers, and ensuring sustainable, positive outcomes for both employer and employee.

We work with employers to target their needs and the needs of the industries they represent.
